Let
us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb
has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Revelation 19:7
“This
is getting scary,” My wife said to me. It is the same thing I have said
to her on many occasions when we frequently say or think the same thing
at the same time. It is like we think with one brain.
After nearly thirty-three years of marriage we have become very much
alike. We even order the same things to eat at restaurants not because we plan on it, but because we each wanted the same thing at the same time. It is amazing how in sync our minds have become.
Likewise, those who have spent years with Jesus, reading the Bible,
attending church with fellow believers, and many hours in prayer drawing
close to the Lord become like Him. We begin to think like Jesus, and
act like Him.
Jesus often refers to us as His bride, and we know there is going to be a wedding feast (Revelation 19:9). As the bride of Christ,
we ought to know something about our Groom. Indeed, those of us who
have been believers for a long time and infused with the Spirit of
Christ ought to know our Lord very well. We should know His thoughts,
what pleases, and what displeases Him. A relationship helps us to grow
together, enhances common interests, and moves our perspective closer
and closer to the one we love. Marriage is a union of souls.
Our relationship with Jesus is a serious matter. It is a genuine
connection to the Divine just as a marriage between a man and woman is a
serious commitment and union. Marriage with Jesus is a spiritual
connection and covenant that cannot be broken.
Many Christians speak of wanting a closer connection with Jesus when in fact they already have an intimate spiritual union with
Him as believers. And just like a human marriage, when you spend time
and grow together the union naturally gets stronger over time. Spending
time together is key.
Life throws many problems and troubles at us. A strong marriage
weathers such turmoil and grows yet stronger, and so it is with our
relationship with Jesus.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to continually grow closer to You, to share our life, better understand Your will, all leading to that wonderful celebration in heaven as You receive Your bride. Amen.
Great message Karlton! Amazing how simple it is to grow closer to Jesus, yet so often other stuff gets in the way of our time with Him. Thanks for sharing such a simple, yet profound message. God bless. LOTSoluv Kerryn

ReplyDeleteThanks Kerryn! I've found when I take time for God, everything else fits together well in my life. But if I put Him last, everything else begins to fall apart.
ReplyDeleteBlessings.
