10 Years Of Life

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you. Joel 2:25

I’m coming up on the ten year anniversary of the operation that saved my life. In March of 2011 I was dying, and had been slowly fading and wasting away for more than a year previous. Crohn’s Disease nearly took my life.

Since that time, I have seen my daughter happily married, my granddaughter come into the world, and went from barely able to function--merely surviving--to someone living life again.

When God promised the Israelites that He would restore the years the locusts ate, I can understand what that must have felt like. Not only the promise, but seeing it actually happen.

There are times that are so bad in our lives that it can seem there is no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel. It is hard to comprehend living helpless and hopeless, and then see that turn around and find we have not only survived, but are seeing “fruit” once more in our lives.

Never, ever, underestimate the goodness of God, or His ability to turn things around. It may seem impossible, I know. But if you can find just a tiny seed of hope you will find that God can still bring a fruitful life in your barren situation.

Prayer: Dear Lord, only You know just how dark our lives can become, and only You can bring light in our darkness, and fruit to our dry, parched ground. Thank You Jesus for Your never ending grace and kindness to us. We will praise You for it forever! Amen.

  1. Amen & amen! Soooooo cool to hear your amazing testimony Karlton! Praise God! Trev & I were given the same verse when we had to sell our home in 2015 due to health needs eating up our finances! Our new home that we're renting now is worth way more than we could have ever bought ourselves & we're paying a fraction of the rent that would be expected for anyone else! God is graciously giving us more than we could imagine! Thank you for the reminder, Karlton! God is awesome! LOTSoluv Kerryn
