But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Matthew 10:30 (NKJV)
Human beings have anywhere from 90,000 to 150,000 hairs on our head. I am on the low end as redheads have around 90,000 hairs, and blondes like my wife are at the higher end with 150,000 hairs.
Jesus was no liar when He said the number of hairs on our head are numbered. Now He could have been using hyperbole to make a point, but I have no difficulty accepting that the Lord knows everything about us including the very number of the hairs on my head.
Consider for a moment how much God thinks about us and cares about us, even to the very details of our lives.
I recently saw a photo showing a city, looking down from very high in the sky. The homes were tiny, the roads no thicker than a fine line surrounding the houses. It was a “God’s eye view” from above. How small and insignificant it makes us appear, yet God thinks much more of us than mere specs on a globe.
God could have just created us and forgotten about us, leaving us on our own with no help from above. Compared to the greatness of God we are insignificant, mere “ants” scurrying about on a big blue world. Yet He did not just make human beings to leave us to our own devices, but cared enough about us to send Jesus to save us from ourselves.
How much He loves us, how much He thinks about us, and how much He proved it by dying a terrible death on a cross so He could save our souls. Yes, He knows how many hairs are on our head, and everything else there is to know about us, because He loves us and gave Himself for us.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for loving us and for caring so much about us. It brings us comfort and hope to know that You care for us. Amen.
