I have not departed from the commandment of His lips;
I have treasured the words of His mouth
More than my necessary food. Job 23:12 (NKJV)

In the movie “The Book of Eli” the protagonist (Denzel Washington) risks his life to carry a Bible across a post-apocalyptic United States through a dangerous wasteland filled with deadly people. He knows the power of the Bible he is carrying and wants to take it to a place that can preserve it. His antagonist also realizes the power of the Bible and wants it for himself to misuse it.
Throughout the real world the Bible is both controversial and in certain nations completely forbidden. You are risking your life to even own God’s word in certain countries. Throughout the centuries Christians like William Tyndale have lost their lives for daring to take the word of God to believers.
We in English speaking countries are “Bible Rich”. We have more translations than we can keep up with. The Bible is available in more versions, formats, covers, and types than could have been imagined in Tyndale’s day. Yet too often we neglect this great and awesome treasure of the Holy Word of God.
The Bible gives us knowledge, wisdom, strength and power to live the kind of lives Jesus has called us to. We are new creatures in Christ, called to be a holy people who represent and live for Jesus. The Bible is our guide throughout this new life and its teachings direct us in our Christian walk.
Are you feeling powerless and weak lately? Are you in need of wisdom and guidance? God has provided His very words to guide you and empower you to live the Christian life. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit the Bible will reveal to you the wisdom of God and enable you to live a useful and fulfilled life for the Kingdom of God.
Do not neglect this most precious gift of God’s word. It is the power that changes lives and delivers sinners and energizes Christians across the world.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for your precious Bible. It is a treasure and we will not neglect to read and apply its teachings to our lives. Amen.
