The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion. Proverbs 28:1 (NKJV)
When school was out and summer began my brother, sister, and I would go to northeast Tennessee to stay with my grandmother until school began again. Our grandmother, who we called Mammaw, became like a second mother to us. She was a caring and loving and strong woman.
When Mammaw was in her seventies someone tried to break into her home while she was still in the house. They hit the back door trying to break through, and my Mammaw picked up her axe and shouted: “I have an axe and if you come through that door I will chop your head off!”
Very luckily for the villain they decided not to finish the break in and left.
Sometimes we are called upon to be strong and bold even when, maybe especially when, we do not feel very strong or bold, or able to face down our enemies.
Thankfully we can call upon the Lord, stand upon His word, pray over and through situations, and know that the very angels of God are on our side protecting and ready to deliver us.
If a woman in her seventies can stand up to an intruder, how much more can we stand up to our spiritual enemies by and through the power of Jesus Christ? Yes brothers and sisters, we have every reason to be as bold as lions, not because we are strong, but because we serve an Almighty and Awesome God!
Prayer: Dear Lord, when we are feeling timid and weak remind us that through You we are both strong and bold and more than conquerors. Amen.

Good reminder, Karlton!
ReplyDeleteI loved time with my grandmother in the summers, too.
I esp. grinned as I am "now" a woman in my early 70s. A good time to be BOLD.
God bless!
