Get Excited About Jesus

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Philippians 4:4-5 (NIV)

I had a school teacher who was very un-excitable. But one day she became animated when talking about her favorite author J.R.R. Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings books. I was so surprised to see her get excited about it that I decided I must see what was so great about this author and his books, and then I became a lifelong fan of the same author.

Excitement is contagious. And when people like us who are so ill and afflicted can still get excited about our Lord and Savior, can still show our joy in the Lord, that is a powerful testimony to the world.

When someone who has no reason to be overjoyed about anything, yet is excited about their Lord, can still smile when thinking about Jesus and His goodness, that gets people interested in our faith. For if those who have every reason to be miserable and joyless can still show the joy of the Lord, feel excitement about Jesus, it is a powerful testimony that can get others interested in our Jesus. Perhaps then He will become their Jesus.

Get excited about Jesus today. And let that excitement be contagious to those around you.

Dear Lord, fill us with your joy, and let us never lose our excitement about Your Salvation, let us always rejoice about our wonderful redemption through You. Amen.
