You Are Armed And Dangerous

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:13 (NIV)

The Christian music group Petra has a song called: Armed And Dangerous. Thinking about that song I have questioned its veracity. Are we truly dangerous in our weakened condition? How can someone who cannot leave their sick bed or wheelchair be considered “armed and dangerous”?

It seems impossible. I certainly do not feel “dangerous” to the enemy when I’m too exhausted to climb out of bed. But Petra was talking about spiritual things involving spiritual power. It makes no difference if you are the mightiest superhero or someone too weak to walk across the room when you focus on spiritual things.

As a born again Christian, sealed with the Holy Spirit of God, and taught by that same Spirit, as well as guarded by the angels of God, no matter your physical condition, you are a spiritual powerhouse. Anyone would be a fool to pick a fight with you, from a spiritual perspective.

The problem comes from forgetting who and what we truly are. If we judge ourselves by the “outward man”, as the world does, then we are selling ourselves short, because we are the children of an Almighty God. What could you accomplish if you had a revelation of Jesus inside of you?

The demons in hell tremble when a temple of the Holy Spirit begins praying. They do not stop to ask whether those prayers are coming from someone on their sickbed or standing upon a mountaintop. The prayer coming from a child of God is the real danger. A believer living by faith is what the enemy fears.

You are armed and dangerous Christian, take out your shield of faith, make sure your helmet of salvation is fastened tight, and mightily swing the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God), because you are both armed and dangerous.

Dear Lord, let us never forget that we are covered by Your blood, and no weapon formed against us will prosper. Amen.
